EBRA Submits Feedback on the Draft EU Methodology for Battery Recycled Content

EBRA has submitted its feedback to the European Commission on the draft Delegated Act establishing the methodology for the calculation and verification of recycled content in batteries.

While welcoming the Commission's efforts to strengthen circularity and increase the use of recycled materials in batteries, EBRA's submission highlights several issues that are important for the future competitiveness of Europe's battery recycling industry. These include the impact of toll-treatment arrangements on recyclers, the design of the proposed 30% multiplier for EU-recycled materials, the allocation of recycled content within the battery value chain, administrative burden, and the recognition of mass balancing at group level.

EBRA remains committed to supporting a robust recycled-content framework that promotes closed-loop recycling, encourages investment in European recycling and refining capacity, and contributes to the objectives of the EU Battery Regulation.
